[Ee-gahl]
A softened contraction of Igning (life, essence) and Maggàl (celebration), a blend of Ewondo (Cameroon) and Wollof (Senegal) languages respectively – is a living space for human experiences, observations, stories.
Here, life is celebrated through the trivial things, the quotidian rituals and the little victories which shape its density.
Why did we want to create this section ?
At times, cognition must halt its activity and leave room for a state of pure contemplation. Some find grace in grandiose journeys across the globe; others in uncontrolled scrolling across the web. High-paced consumption, proving to be consequential beyond financial conversations, has imposed a travestied treatment of human experience. The unique of then became the reproductible, the merchandisable of today. We believe that there is little need for such artifice. Manifestation of life occurs before those who dare to take curious notice.
It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
For once on The Nurubian, we are neglecting complexity, let the thoughts quieten. In this space, time slows down, you will set your brain on low activity mode and heighten your senses. For the less receptive of you, our curated collaborators pledge to translate what the mundane can mean in your understanding as small wonders. Join us for an unapologetic celebration of the present, shall we for an instant neglect the outcome of the upcoming.
